Why two Pokémon cards that look the same sell for different money

A Pokémon card's price depends on its set, edition, holo pattern and grade. Base Set Charizard exists as 1st Edition, shadowless and unlimited printings; as of 2026 a played unlimited copy sells in the low hundreds while a 1st Edition PSA 10 has sold for six figures.

Reprints add a layer. Base Set, 2016 Evolutions and the 2023 set 151 each have a Charizard, priced separately, so the scanner reads the set symbol to show sales for your printing.

Sold prices, not asking prices

A grade estimate before the grading fee

PSA's Regular tier costs around $80 per card as of mid-2026, so a submission that comes back a 7 is money lost. SnapCard weighs centering, corners, edges and surface from your photos and returns an estimate on the PSA 1–10 scale.

An opinion, not a certificate

Only PSA, BGS, SGC or CGC put a grade on a slab. Use the estimate to sort: likely 9s and 10s with a wide raw-to-graded gap go in the submission pile.

Japanese cards and other honest limits

Japanese-language Pokémon cards trade in a separate market at separate prices. The scanner identifies many, but matches are less consistent than on English cards, so check the set code before trusting a number.
