Most Pokémon cards are worth under a dollar. The ones that are not are decided by set and card number, print variant and condition. As of September 2026 a played Base Set Charizard sells for a few hundred dollars while the 1st Edition PSA 10 sold for $954,800 in February. Here are dated ranges for the ten most-searched Pokémon.

What decides any Pokémon card's price?

Three variables set the price of every Pokémon card: the exact card (set and number, such as 4/102), the print variant (1st Edition, shadowless, reverse holo, alternate art) and the condition or grade. The same Charizard artwork runs from about $300 raw unlimited to nearly $1 million as a 1st Edition PSA 10, so identify the card before you look up a price.

  1. Set symbol and number. The bottom corner shows a number like 4/102. Base Set has no symbol; every later set prints one, and modern cards add a set code (MEW for 151).
  2. 1st Edition stamp. A small "Edition 1" badge left of the artwork on 1999 to 2003 prints; it multiplies value by 4 to 6 on most holos.
  3. Shadowless. Early Base Set cards have no drop shadow on the right edge of the art frame and price between 1st Edition and unlimited.
  4. Holo pattern. A holo rare has foil on the artwork only; a reverse holo has foil everywhere else and is worth a fraction of the holo.
  5. Language. Japanese text, or Hangul on Korean cards, changes the market entirely.
  6. Condition. Edge whitening, a soft corner or a scratch drops a vintage holo from PSA 10 money to PSA 7 money, often a 10 to 20 times difference.

A Pokémon card scanner like SnapCard reads the set, number and variant from one photo and returns recent sales for that print. For grading premiums and market mechanics, see the Pokémon card value guide for 2026; this post keeps to the per-Pokémon numbers.

How much is an Arcanine card worth?

Arcanine is the most-searched Pokémon with the least money behind it. The Base Set Arcanine 23/102 is an uncommon worth about $4 raw, and only a few Arcanine cards clear $300: the Neo Destiny Light Arcanine 1st Edition (about $607 raw, $9,000 PSA 10) and the Aquapolis and Skyridge holos.

  • Light Arcanine 12/105, Neo Destiny 1st Edition. Raw $607, PSA 9 $1,941, PSA 10 $9,000, per PokePrices, sales through early September 2026.
  • Arcanine H2, Aquapolis and Skyridge. About $475 to $500 raw near mint, per PokeScope.

Base Set Arcanine ($4), Hisuian Arcanine from Lost Origin (under $1) and the Scarlet & Violet Arcanine ex full art (about $15) are the cards most people find, and none is worth grading.

How much is my Japanese or Korean Pokémon card worth?

Vintage Japanese cards often sell for more than their English equivalents, modern Japanese chase cards sell for 15 to 40 percent more than English singles, and Korean cards sell for roughly half to a third of Japanese prices. The most expensive card of any language, the Pikachu Illustrator, is Japanese.

Japanese booster boxes cost 60 to 75 percent less than English at MSRP, so Japanese regular cards are cheap, yet the top Japanese illustration rare frequently outsells the English one, per PokemonPriceTracker. The 1996 Japanese Base Set no-rarity first print sits above everything English: a no-rarity Charizard PSA 10 reached $1.7 million on March 3, 2026, and raw copies trade near $8,700, per Slab-Z.

Korean cards use Hangul text and are the budget print of every modern set. A Korean Umbreon ex SIR from Terastal Festival in PSA 10 lists near $365 where the Japanese equivalent brings four figures, per Japan Figure.

The first Pokémon cards ever printed were the glossy Pikachu and Jigglypuff promos in the November 1996 CoroCoro Comic, released October 15, 1996, per BankTCG. They sell for low hundreds raw to low four figures in PSA 10.

When is a Pokémon card worth grading?

Grade a Pokémon card when the PSA 10 price is at least four times the raw price, the card is genuinely gem mint and the fee is under 10 percent of the expected result. PSA's Regular tier costs $79.99 per card in September 2026 with Value tiers paused since June 2, so break-even sits around $150 to $200 of expected value.

That rule excludes most of what people find. A raw Base Set Pikachu at $16 becomes a $4,400 card in PSA 10, but fewer than 2 percent of submissions gem. The cards that reliably justify the fee are well-centered modern alternate arts and any 1st Edition or shadowless Base Set holo in near mint or better.

A card grading app gives a PSA-scale estimate from a photo before you pay; the PSA 9 vs PSA 10 price difference and is card grading worth it in 2026 cover the rest of the math.

Bottom line

Your Pokémon card is worth what its exact print last sold for in its exact condition, and for nine cards out of ten that is under a dollar. The money sits in Base Set and Fossil holos with a 1st Edition stamp or no shadow, in modern alternate arts like Umbreon VMAX and Rayquaza VMAX, and in gem mint grades most raw cards will not reach.
